Alcohol Action Ireland is the national charity for alcohol related issues and with your help we can continue our work to reduce alcohol related harm in Ireland.
Your contribution can help us raise awareness of alcohol damage and promote the necessary policy changes to reduce that damage.
Here are some of the areas we are working to bring change in:
Recognition for Children Affected By Parental Alcohol Problems – there are an estimated 71,000 children in Ireland who frequently experience fear or witness conflict as a result of parental drinking. Alcohol Action Ireland is the first organisation to commission this research and we are working to have the reality of these children’s lives recognised including their role as carers for parents and siblings
Promoting Young People’s Mental Health – Alcohol has a detrimental effect on young people’s physical, emotional and mental health. Alcohol Action Ireland campaigns to reduce young people’s exposure and access to alcohol in order to reduce the harm. We work in coalition with organisations dedicated to promoting good mental health for young people
Creating Awareness of Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder – FASD is an umbrella term describing a range of physical, psychological, psychiatric, behavioural and learning disabilities effects that can occur in a person whose mother drank alcohol during pregnancy. Alcohol Action Ireland campaigns for warning labels to be carried on alcoholic drinks and for health promotion initiatives to create awareness of drinking during pregnancy
Reducing Road Deaths – Saving Lives - one in three road deaths are alcohol-related – we are campaigning for a reduction in drink driving limits ie the blood alcohol concentration limits
Please support our work - thank you.
