The North South Alcohol Policy Advisory Group invites you to a Knowledge Exchange Seminar: Alcohol, self-harm and suicide -an all-island perspective
It takes place on Wednesday, May 3, 2017, from 10am to 4pm at Chartered Accountants House, 47-49 Pearse Street, Dublin 2.
This seminar will facilitate sharing of knowledge and experiences between a range of stakeholders working in policy, research, service delivery and community action on alcohol, self-harm and suicide.
It aims to facilitate knowledge exchange on:
- Evidence on the relationship between alcohol use, self-harm and suicide across the island of Ireland
- Current and planned policies, programmes and services relevant to reducing alcohol-related harm with a focus on mental wellbeing and suicide prevention
- Opportunities and challenges across the two jurisdictions in reducing alcohol related harm to mental wellbeing.
This event will be of interest to:
- Policy makers, service planners and service providers at national, regional and local level in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland
- Stakeholders working in the health and social care sector especially those working in mental health services, in suicide prevention and after-care, in responding to alcohol-related harm including through addiction services
- Community and voluntary sector groups working with individuals and communities preventing, and responding to, alcohol-related harm, self-harm and suicide issues.
This seminar has been organised under the auspices of the North South Alcohol Policy Advisory Group, which was established in 2013 at the request of the Chief Medical Officers in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, and is chaired by the Institute of Public Health in Ireland.
