Privacy Statement

Alcohol Action Ireland is committed to protecting your privacy. Alcohol Action Ireland endeavours to comply with its obligations under the EU General Data Protection Regulation 2018 (GDPR). 

Registration 

Most aspects of Alcohol Action Ireland’s website can be accessed without providing any personal information. There are some exceptions. Website users who wish to join campaigns or receive updates on the progress of these campaigns or on AAI’s activities must provide their email details to Alcohol Action Ireland.

Currently these campaigns include:

  1. Alcohol Health Alliance campaign for the Public Health Alcohol Act
  2. Silent Voices campaign.
  3. Sale of Alcohol Bill campaign
  4. Voices of Recovery campaign
  5. Alcohol labelling campaign
  6. Drink driving campaign
  7. Zero alcohol products campaign
  8. Operation Encompass campaign
  9. Make industry pay for cost of alcohol harm campaign
  10. Alcohol and domestic violence campaign
  11. Alcohol sports sponsorship campaign
  12. Office for alcohol harm reduction campaign

 

These campaigns include contacting elected representatives to call for specific actions.

 

Website users may also register to receive newsletters from Alcohol Action Ireland.

  

Information collected in these instances is not used for any other purpose, in accordance with GDPR principles.  

 

Retention 

For all campaigns, emails will be held until the conclusion of the campaigns. 

For all newsletters,  emails will be held indefinitely.

When website users sign up for campaigns or newsletters they are informed about the data retention policy.

  

What other information do we collect? 

Alcohol Action Ireland and/or its contractors collect data on visitors to the website. This is done through keeping records of IP addresses which you use to access our site. The information is used by us on an aggregate basis only to assess levels of traffic to the site and the areas of the site users are accessing. We do not collect and evaluate this information for others. 

 

Use of cookies 

Certain parts of Alcohol Action Ireland’s website also use ‘cookies’.  A ‘cookie’ is a file sent to your computer by the Alcohol Action Ireland website to make it work in a faster and more efficient manner. Alcohol Action Ireland may provide links to external websites. This includes links to our social media channels. Alcohol Action Ireland has no control over the privacy policies of these sites and would encourage you to exercise discretion when providing information to such sites.

For the purposes of complying with data protection obligations under GDPR, Alcohol Action Ireland confirms that it is a data controller in relation to personal information held about you.  The purposes for which Alcohol Action Ireland may hold information given by you via this website and for which Alcohol Action Ireland envisages processing your personal data are: 

  1. Email addresses submitted by users who wished to join campaigns listed above. These email addresses will be held until the conclusion of the campaign.
  2. Email addresses submitted by users who wished to receive information about the work of Alcohol Action Ireland. These e mail addresses will be held indefinitely.

Right of Access, Rectification or Erasure.
